An Important Film and Message
Standing on Sacred Ground is coming to PBS!
Our friends at Sacred Land Film Project, another Earth Island Institute project, are thrilled to announce the broadcast of this award-winning 4-film series.
Filmmaker Toby McLeod describes the film series:
“Around the world, indigenous people stand up for their traditional sacred lands in defense of cultural survival, human rights and the environment. Watch them stand against industrial mega-projects, consumer culture, resource extraction, competing religions, tourists and climate change”.
In one of the four films, “Pilgrims and Tourists”, the focus is on Altai, and we learn about government mega-projects that threaten the sacred land and endangered wildlife of Karakul Valley and Ukok Plateau. Between April and June, the film will be broadcast on PBS’ World Channel and local PBS stations around the country.
We hope you will watch this accurate and compellingly beautiful film about Altai. We’d love to hear what you think on Facebook, Twitter, or a comment on this post.
